U.S. CENSUS SUMMARY

Since the census questions change every 10 years, one of our local friends designed this visual chart.

Note: 1910 also includes number of marriages and number of children the woman had & how many are living.

Also, Amy Johnson Crow has a very good website.  The first thing I found and really enjoyed was a couple of articles about the 1950 Census.  She has the following shortcuts that are very helpful.

The easiest way to convert an address to an Enumeration District is to use the free SteveMorse.org website. Hover over "US Census" and click on "Unified 1870-1950 Census ED Finder."  Now select the state and county.  For Wexford County, for example you can bring up a map of the entire county with the ED's.  Or you can bring up the city of Cadillac.

Now when you look at the 1950 Census you can more quickly get to the person you are looking for.  Again just select the state and county that you are looking for.
